About
Hell my name is Deidre. I live in Katong, Singapore. ποΈ πΈπ¬
With a startup-focused background, I have experience designing for companies at different design maturity levels.
In small founding teams, I take an active role in translating initial product visions and go-to-market strategies into tangible brand identities and products. Empathy and communication are my key strengths, which help me collaborate efficiently across teams, identify user-needs, and understand end-users deeply to create better solutions.
Industries I have designed for include corporate services, e-commerce, shipping, freight forwarding, dining, cashback, cybersecurity, and blockchain management.
I like to design
- Transparent, ethical user experiences π
- New-to-the-world products π
- Effortless navigation and frictionless task flows π©βπ»
FAQ
How do you pronounce your name?
Deer-druh, Day-druh - I respond to both.
Are you a product designer, UI/UX designer, or visual designer?
I consider myself a generalist. My work in startups requires me to wear multiple hats. My passion lies in foremost in defining user flows and designing features. I want to design great products that people love to use.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Leading a multi-disciplinary design team and helping companies to create products people love.
How did you get into design?
When working in a seller acquisitions role at an e-commerce startup called OneNow, I onboarded Thai merchants to the seller portal MVP. During the process I discovered several usability issues, bugs, and inaccurate language translation work resulting in unclear CTAs.
I used a simple heuristics framework to find pain points, and conducted user interviews with merchants to gather feedback. With that information I designed the second iteration of the merchant platform. These user problems led me to learn the fundamental principles of user experience.
